Is online notarization legal in Mississippi?
Yes, it is.
Online notarizations are accepted across the country due to a long-standing body of laws in each state that specifically provides for recognition and acceptance of out-of-state notarizations. In addition to laws in each state recognizing and accepting common out-of-state notarizations, the Full Faith and Credit Clause of the US Constitution may provide an additional basis for states to accept out of state notarizations.
Certain states and public agencies have specific additional requirements and limitations for executing and/or accepting electronically-signed documents and out-of-state notarizations, and not all documents may be electronically-signed. We always recommend checking with your intended recipient to confirm their acceptance of online notarizations.
What is the difference between Wet signatures & Electronic signatures?
Wet Signature:
The signer physically signs the document with a pen. This is generally done in the presence of a notary but we have access to notaries that can achieve the same result virtually.
Electronic Signature:
The signer will upload the unsigned documents prior to the appointment. During the video session, the documents will be signed electronically (eSign). After the session, the document(s) will be electronically notarized and delivered via email.
What are the acceptable forms of ID that I can use?
Acceptable forms of ID include the following photo IDs if valid and unexpired. Your state may have other allowable IDs or may exclude use of some items on this list, so always check:
- U.S. State Issued Driver’s License
- U.S. State Issued ID Card
- U.S. Passport
- Foreign Passport
- Credible witnesses (human ID)
How does online notarization work?
You are connected with a commissioned notary public via live audio-video call using your smart phone, computer or tablet. The notary public confirms your identity visually using the scanned photo ID, and then witnesses as you sign the document. The notary then signs and places their notarial seal on your document electronically. You are then emailed the completed documents.
How do I pay for your services?
You can pay for services through our scheduling calendar. Simply schedule a time that works for you and upload your documents. Please note that the scheduling calendar is for a few documents. If you have more than three (3) documents please only select one document and we will calculate the remaining balance at the time of service.
How does online notarization differ from traditional notarization?
The only differences between the two are the tools that are involved. All notarial acts remain the same except the introduction of electronic signature, electronic notary stamps, and Video-Audio technology. Personal appearance, positive identification, and required notarial acts are still utilized with online notarization.
I am in Mississippi and my document requires a notary from that state, can you help?
Yes! We have a network of notaries in all 50 states. If you reside in a state where notaries in that state can't perform online notarizations legally we can connect you with a mobile notary in your state.
What if my document requires a witness?
Not a problem. We can get you witnesses for your document or you can provide your own witnesses. Just let us know how you would like to proceed.
